Welcome

As healthcare professionals we are always looking for the optimal solution to our patient’s healthcare needs.  The PolyMem® QuadraFoam® family of dressings have been available for almost 20 years to help you manage all types of wounds, including all stages of pressure ulcers.  The ability of PolyMem dressings to continuously cleanse, fill, absorb, and moisten while helping to relieve both persistent and procedure-related wound pain makes them a valuable member of your wound care arsenal.  With the addition of PolyMem Wic Silver Rope – the QuadraFoam family of dressings can now help you manage any depth of wound, including tunnels.

In the past we have offered you comprehensive programs to help you obtain optimal results for skin tear and venous ulcer management.  This month, we would like to introduce a pressure ulcer program specifically designed to help maximize your pressure ulcer results through the use of PolyMem dressings.  The pressure ulcer program includes an educational component, protocol, and quick reference pocket guide to help you standardize care throughout your facility with all levels of staff.  The pocket guide includes charts and scales commonly used to evaluate pressure ulcers.

Please contact your Ferris sales representative or our customer service department today to begin evaluating the pressure ulcer program.*  Thank you for your continued support of Ferris and PolyMem QuadraFoam dressings.

Sincerely,
Roger Sessions, D.O., FACEP

PolyMem QuadraFoam and Pressure Ulcer

Pressure Ulcers are a problem most healthcare professionals will encounter in patients during their careers.  Thought leaders in the wound care community have identified three important issues of managing pressure ulcers: quality of life, pain and healing.1  A variety of products have been developed and used over time to close these problematic wounds.

What if you had one formulation of dressings that could be used to successfully manage all stages of pressure ulcers, increase quality of life, manage wound-related pain, and help promote wound healing?

Our library of case studies and published journal articles contain evidence that PolyMem dressings help to increase quality of life, reduce wound-related pain, and promote healing at the wound site.

Increased Quality of Life2:
97-year-old immobile malnourished woman with advanced Alzheimer’s developed a persistently painful Stage III trochanter pressure ulcer.  She also had significant procedural pain associated with daily iodine and gauze dressing changes.

After only one month of PolyMem management, the patient relaxed, making care easier; at 11 weeks the patient was able to sit in a chair and stand briefly with assistance.  Less than four months of PolyMem QuadraFoam dressings completely closed this pressure ulcer.

Pain Relief3:
85-year-old diabetic woman developed a huge pressure ulcer on her gluteus maximus with pain of 10 on a 0-10 scale.  After surgical debridement, her pain decreased to a 7-8.  By September 30, only 2 ½ weeks of PolyMem management, her pain was 0!
